CAUSES OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
Doctors are still not certain what exactly causes multiple sclerosis. However the research that has been performed so far suggests that a person’s environment (what part of the world they live in), genetics, gender, age and even a virus may cause the disease.
PERSON’S ENVIRONMENT
It has been suggested that you are more likely to be diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis if you live in the northern climates including the North side of North America, Northern Europe and Japan. However if you live in the Tropical or southern regions you are less likely to be diagnosed. However it is said that if you have spent 15 years or more in the northern climates you are at high-risk. Research also suggests that your race can be a cause of the disease. People who are white are more common to be diagnosed rather than other races.
GENETICS
Study has shown that people who have a family history of people with Multiple Sclerosis are more likely to become diagnosed rather than people who have no family history of the disease.
GENDER
It has been scientifically proven that women have 2-3 more chance of being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis than men. This is believed because of the hormonal differences between the two genders.
AGE
People who are in-between the ages 20 and 50 are more likely to be diagnosed with the disease because of their age. This is usually the age when the first symptoms of the disease occur. Later causing the disease.
VIRUS
Viruses are also known to trigger the disease. Some researchers believe that infections may trigger the immune system to attack the nerve cells.
